Beechwood Books is a publishing house founded on do-it-yourself ideology. When our founder had his first book produced by a major publisher in 2005, he felt lost and ignored during the process. As he put it, "They reminded me of my Army recruiter – once I signed the paperwork, they were impossible to get a hold of." So, he decided to produce his own books from start to finish.
In 2010, Beechwood Books was founded, and an efficient and collaborative approach replaced the bloated process typical of major publishers. At Beechwood Books, our team – author, manuscript assistant, typesetter, graphic designer, and a few proofreaders – delivers low-cost, high-quality books directly to individual readers and booksellers.
Our unique, limited print run titles include Blue Line to Blue Line (2013, only Trans Adirondack Route guidebook), History Inside the Blue Line (2014, only Trans Adirondack Route place name book), My Adirondacks (2015, voted Best Memoir by Adirondack Center for Writing), Among the Cloud Splitters (2016, only High Peaks place name book), Cradle of the Union (2019, only Albany street name history book), Color Remote (2019, most expansive Adirondack coffee table photo book), From Northville to Placid (2021, only Northville Placid Trail place name book), With an Ax and a Rifle (2023, most thorough Adirondack settlement book) Deep History (2023, only Lake Champlain place name book), and Wicked Awesome Adirondack Chronology (2024, only Adirondack chronology book).
